Arapahoe High School Shooting

There is “active shooter situation” currently at Arapahoe High School.

Saturday 9:35 P.M.

The first victim’s identity was released. She is senior Claire Esther Davis.

10:22 P.M.

Pierson had a little sister that attends Arapahoe High School. He purportedly had a conflict with his speech and debate teacher, so police are investigating to see if his motivation was revenge.

9:05 P.M.

The first victim, a 15 year old girl, is in critical condition and out of surgery. She went from being in serious condition to critical.

8:57 P.M.

The second victim, a female, was confirmed to not have been shot. Only the blood of the first victim was found on her. There was only one gunshot victim.

8:43 P.M.

Reports that Pierson’s first victim confronted him are purported to not be true.

8:34 P.M.

The shooter was identified as 18 year old Karl Havlerson Pierson.

7:24 P.M.

Officials report that the third victim suffered an anxiety attack and was taken Swedish Medical Center for treatment. Two other students had similar panic attacks, but they were treated on scene.

7:12 P.M.

Authorities confirm that the weapon was a shotgun.

6:45 P.M.

Officers report that there were two Molotov cocktails. Officers who first arrived on scene, had to deal with smoke from the first Molotov, which the shooter set off. The second was found and deemed safe.

6:36 P.M.

Officials report that the shooter made no attempt to hide the weapon and was able to get “deep” within the school armed with appeared to be a shotgun.

6:22 P.M.

Two out of three of the victims are out of the hospital. It is unknown how the third victim was injured.

Police are looking into revenge against the teacher as a possible motive. They have also found a device that was initially believed to be a Molotov cocktail, an incendiary weapon that is created inside of a bottle. They are still investigating to see what exactly the device is made of.

Arapahoe High School will be closed on Monday.

4:02 P.M.

The shooter was a self-proclaimed socialist.

3:59 P.M.

Every student has been evacuated from the school.

3:52 P.M.

A third victim has reportedly been injured.

3:22 P.M.

The first victim is a female, and she is currently in surgery in serious condition.

2:26 P.M.

20 minutes after police started searching the building, they found the shooter dead from a self-inflicted injury.

2:19 P.M.

The first victim, a 15 or 16 year old, has been taken to the hospital in serious condition. The second victim has been taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The shooter reportedly entered the school at 12:30 P.M. and asked for a specific teacher. The school was immediately placed on active shooter protocols after the incident. Police did not engage in a gun fight and believe that the shooter acted alone.

2:11 P.M.

Cherry Creek School officials intend to dismiss students at 2:30 P.M.

2:02 P.M.

Two students are injured, and the shooter, a student, is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The school is still in secure perimeter.

1:30 P.M.

Currently, there is an “active shooter situation” going on at Arapahoe High School.

Two people are reportedly injured and their names are not being released at this time.

All schools in the Cherry Creek District are on a secure perimeter, and no one is allowed to enter or exit their school until the secure perimeter is taken out of effect.

No one is in custody, and this is an ongoing situation.
