An email went out in first semester stating that students will not be able to go through the North entrances of Smoky Hill. This caused a lot of concern when it come to traffic and getting into the school.

Stated in Mona Jabr’s article https://smokynow.com/north-parking-lot-closing-second-semester/  these doors are being locked due safety concerns, and it makes it easier for security to monitor who enters and exits the building.

Though administration’s choice to keep the North doors closed had good intentions, it created a big problem for a lot of families because traffic is now a much bigger issue. There are cars lined up waiting about an hour for parents trying to drop off their kids.

In the halls and classrooms students talk about how much of a hassle it is to go through all the traffic going in and out of the parking lot. One of the many concerns for students is being late to class.

I think that the back doors should be unlocked, allowing students to enter the school through the North side of the building, but parents should not be allowed to drop their kids off in the teacher parking lot. This way there won’t be so much traffic and students will not be late to their first period class.
