April 15, 2016 was Marsha Gearhart’s last day working as the Marketing Director at the Chick-Fil-A on Parker Road.

After winning over the hearts of the students from Smoky Hill, Grandview, and Regis Jesuit, “Momma Marsha” is heading to the Big Apple.

While she is employed by a company with no relations to Smoky Hill, she has impacted the Buff’s community in more ways than one. Scott Cohen, Activities Director, recalls many instances where Gearhart has provided food for Smoky Hill students and staff including: AVID Blood Drive, DECA Marketplace, Extremefest, and teacher meetings.

“I think what is even more important than her giving all of this stuff, is how much she loves our kids,” Cohen said.

Inevitably, Gearhart won over the hearts of frequent customers from Smoky Hill, so what makes her leave us? While she held us in her heart, there was room for someone else in her heart as well.

After years of living in Colorado, Momma Marsha has decided to rekindle her love with her high school sweetheart. In March, she traveled to New York to visit him and his cat, which she let know “who was in charge”. After a week in NY, Gearhart realized that she had something good and didn’t want to let that go.

Because her new beau has two children, 18 and 21, they decided it would be best for her to move, rather than him. So, Gearhart left her family and hundreds of kids in Colorado to live a loving life with her boyfriend. According to her, if there is a wedding, the Smoky Hill community is invited!

As for the special deals that are offered by her, the legacy will stay alive. Rachel Melton, who runs Marsha’s Twitter account, will handle all of the special promotions. Gearhart will send her the promotion of the week, and Melton will tweet them. As her identity has been incognito for as long as the account has been active, Melton doesn’t know how she feels about others knowing it’s her.

“I feel kind of weird now that people will know it is me, instead of Marsha actually tweeting,” Melton said.

While “Momma Marsha” may be physically far away, she wants to keep in touch with all of her kids. Last week, she made a Snapchat that she is still in the process of figuring out. Along with this, she has a Facebook which she is very active on,  as well as her Twitter account and is attempting to take control of more.

She will not be working at Chick-Fil-A in New York, as there is not one close to her and she plans pursuing a career in real estate.

“I could never work at another Chick-Fil-A because I could never get the love and respect anywhere else than I do here, and I love you guys,” Gearhart said.
