CCSD Day at the Capitol(TNS/MCT)

Did you have any plans on Tue., April 26? Well, if you did, cancel them because the Cherry Creek Schools Day at the Capitol, sponsored by the Cherry Creek Community Legislative Network, has been rescheduled from Wed., March 23, to Tue., April 26.

“A Day at the Capitol is an event that is solely run by parents, and will allow them to have the opportunity to go to the Capitol and hear from their legislation,” Director of Communications, Tustin Amole said.

According to cherrycreekschools.org, “CCCLN is a non-partisan committee promoting awareness of education issues, legislation and the legislative process. In addition to the Day at the Capitol, the group hosts a ‘Breakfast with Legislators’ in the fall, a ‘Legislative Overview’ at the beginning of the session, and a ‘Legislative Wrap-up’ at the end of the session.”

This is an opportunity for parents, teachers, administrators and community members to come see first-hand what takes place at the Capitol. Topics will include: high stakes testing and adequate funding for public schools and the ability to ask legislators to really listen to parents and educators, and act accordingly.

“Attending this meeting will provide the opportunity to meet and hear from legislators who represent our district and learn about current legislative proposals that may impact education,” Amole said.
