A Mix of All

Digital Evolutions is a program offered as a club, primarily focused on expanding students’ knowledge and skills as independent learners and leaders.

“It’s a creative open studio with tools to explore students’ individual passions,” Cornell, the technology teacher and sponsor of the club, said.

50-60 students arrive Tuesdays at room I-814, a classroom divided into three sections, each differing greatly from the others. The main section contains 28 computers where students interested in design, architecture, programming, and visualization work to develop self proclaimed goals.

This is where sophomore Karl Whitman can be found during the club, “On the computers I do all my programming. I design my game, [and] I make my characters on there,” Whitman said.

Whitman is currently working with the rest of the club to create a puppet with mechanized movement, or an animatronic puppet, inspired by trolls and the “Alien vs. Predator” franchise.

“I would describe it as fun, new, interesting -definitely interesting- I would also say to try it,” Whitman said. “You would love it because you get to pick your ideas from a piece of paper onto a computer that is in 3D.”
