Science Bowl

Science Outside of School

Science BowlEvery Friday after school, brains and buzzers combine in room II-206. The Science Bowl is a competition that quizzes students on all types of sciences, including chemistry, physics, biology and more.

One of the club sponsors, science teacher Mary Bartholomew said Smoky Hill has a long history with the Science Bowl. “We have been meeting for over 20 years,” Bartholomew said.

Senior Christopher Riley, the president of the Science Bowl, started with Science bowl his freshmen year, and enjoys the other club members. “They’re like a family to me; we have become so close, so fast,” Riley said.

As a freshman, Riley believed that the Science Bowl was fairly easy, but as he moved up in grade levels, the difficulty increased, too. “Everybody knows a little of each subject, and when you put that together, we become a team,” Riley said.

Science Bowl is open to all students who are interested in learning more about science.
