Hostage Situation in Denver
A man is holding a woman hostage at 7-Eleven
Just before 9 a.m., Denver police tweeted that a man has barricaded in the 7-Eleven in the 1400 block of Perry Street in Denver and has a hostage. The McDonalds across the street has been evacuated and Colfax to west of Perry. Hostage negotiators have been called to the scene. Cowell Elementary School, Lake International School, Strive Prep at the Lake Campus, Cheltenham Elementary and Colfax Elementary has been placed on lockdown. A witness has reported that the 7-Eleven employees know the suspect.
9:35 a.m.: There is a heavy police presence. An armored vehicle has arrived at the scene as well as an ambulance with flashing lights. The armored vehicle moved in, and with a flash, a man has been taken into custody. The hostage holder has been shot and the hostage has been released unharmed. The suspect was shot when he tried to pull the hostage back into the 7-Eleven. SWAT team is clearing the store. Denver Police Chief Robert White will talk to the media shortly.
9:47 a.m.: Police are still active on Colfax but cars are moving away. The schools are taken off of lockdown.
10 a.m.: The police report at the press conference while on scene that at least three other people were in the store. The suspect used a hostage as a shield and was shot by officers. His condition is reported to be critical. Chief White said that he’s, “glad that the situation resolved quickly.”
The suspect has been shot in the shoulder and is still in critical condition.

Wow. I can’t believe that someone would do that… Actually I take that back. Todays world is so messed up that people will do these things. We need to make some serious changes.
