Poms Got Spirit
Poms has been preparing for their last competition.
Dancing their way through obstacles, the Smoky Hill JV Poms team supports school activities by combining dance skills and pep. “The difference between Poms and Cheerleading is that we are a dance team instead of gymnastics,” sophomore Ninaad Nariani, the captain of the JV Poms team, said.
Right now, the JV Poms team is working on their dance skills to prepare for a state competition that is on Dec. 14, 2013. This competition is going to be their last one. “We’ve been cleaning (up) our dance,” Nariani said.
To raise their spirits, the Poms team has been writing down encouraging words and phrases while holding hands. “We have been doing a lot of team bonding,” Nariani said.
The JV Poms team is almost ready to perform. They have practices every day including Saturday. This Saturday they have a three-hour practice to prepare for the upcoming competition. The team also practices on their own time.
At 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2013, the competition will begin. The location of the state tournament has yet to be decided.
