Recently, Apple released the newest addition of the iPhone family: the iPhone SE. While it may be new, most people do not know much about it.

In recent years, the “bigger the better” trend has been in full swing, as the smartphone has been increasing in popularity, function, and size. Beginning with the iPhone 3 , with a 3.5 inch screen, and gradually expanding all the way up to the iPhone 6 Plus, which has a screen size of 5.5 inches. The idea of a small tablet as a cell phone has enticed consumers into purchasing these massive devices.

So why did Apple revert backwards? According to surveys and reviews, the iPhone 5 size and design was greatly loved and missed. According to Apple, the iPhone SE is “a beloved design, now with more to love”. Essentially, the new device includes all of the high-tech features of the iPhone 6 Plus, but with a smaller, more practical design. These features would include: 12 megapixel camera with iSight, live photos, Apple Pay, and a faster core processor.

Approximately one third of all high school students have an iPhone. The range includes the very first generation to the most current. Deon Williams, a junior, has the iPhone 6 and thinks that it is a waste to introduce the same product twice.

“I’d rather get a get a 6S instead, because I feel like I would be downgrading,” said Williams.

He is not the only one, as it has been reported that the general population has a “lusterlack” for the item. Compared to the release of other iPhones, the introduction of the SE has been unconventionally unheralded. Because most consumers see the product as an identical remake of a previous model.
