The NCAA March Madness championship was Monday, April 6.

Of all 68 teams in the tournament, with the first 8 teams playing to get a spot in the official tournament of 16 teams per four region, the 1-seed Wisconsin Badgers from the West region of the bracket played in the championship against the 1-seed Duke Blue Devils from the South region of the bracket.

The Wisconsin Badgers had a hard win, defeating the 1-seed Kentucky who were expected to be the Champions this year. 2-seed Arizona, whose favorable chances at winning the championship came to an end Monday, when the Blue Devils, who had previously defeated 7-seed Michigan State, defeated Wisconsin 68-63 in a very close back and forth game.

Freshman Grayson Allen had a career game scoring 16 points off the bench. Freshman Tyus Jones of Duke played well, scoring 23 points and nailing shots when they mattered most.

Wisconsin star Frank Kaminski had a double double scoring 21 points and having 12 rebounds in a game where future NBA star Jahlil Okafor was in foul trouble.

Many could argue the game was called by the refs more or less in Duke’s favor but in the end Duke cut down the nets and went home with Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s fifth championship.
