Smoky Hill is known for its academics that they pride themselves on but now students who had a safe quiet space to work are now working in the noisy cafeteria and outside in the fall weather.

Not for long as it happens to be opening up again, now some might wonder why it was closed in the first place and Jennifer  Radosevich the librarian spoke on the matter.

The library is closed for 2nd lunch to honor the contract for Mrs. Harmon and myself.  Teachers are guaranteed a duty-free lunch, and even with alternating different times to eat it doesn’t happen unless we close the library.”.

Kids who had time off and went to the library got interviewed and asked questions.

“I did enjoy going to the library and I’m kinda disappointed it is now closed,” said Ashley Belliston. Even in the short time, it was closed it has made an effect on kids trying to study. Belliston also replied to the question, “Where do you study now that it’s closed?”  all she said was, “I don’t,”.

Asking some of the parents said the same thing. Diana Gnyra said, “The library needs to be assessable to students during school hours it is also a quiet place to study and get work done as home environments aren’t always quiet and peaceful,”.

Radosevich spoke about the matter of the libraries reopening: if it would ever be open to students at second lunch.

“Yes! The library will be opening again during the second lunch because we just got word that we are able to hire a clerk to help us keep the library open. Hopefully, that person will be hired and start work here at SHHS right after the Thanksgiving break,”.

Now that there is information that it will reopen students just need to find a temporary solution for now until the break.
