Shadow days are a good program for all incoming grades to Smoky Hill. Suzi Zollener is the person running it and she answered a few questions about it. What is Shadow Days? “Shadow days are for prospective students who are looking to come to Smoky Hill and we pair them up with a student at Smoky Hill and they follow them to their classes for the day to get a feel for the school, also includes a tour of the building and a presentation of all the programs that Smoky Hill offers. It gives the student a taste of what it would be like to be a student here,” said Zollener.
This is one of the best programs that Smoky Hill has to offer, it’s scary coming to a new school, especially if it’s a big school not knowing where to go and scared to ask anybody I know the feeling. Is this the first year that Shadow Days has been in effect? “This is the second year that we have done the regular Shadow Days Hilltoppers program, and MYP has done their Shadow Days for several years,” said Zollener.
They need to have this program at every CCHS and say what it explains it during freshman incoming so they can tell younger kids parents and have more students coming in to see the school even if it’s not their first pick. “How do other students outside of Smoky Hill hear about this? “ It’s on our website, we also shared it with different middle schools in the area,” said Zollener. Has there been a lot of students coming in for Shadow Days? “Quite a bit, we have one this week on Friday and we are full we have 16 students coming and we have been doing 5-6 Shadow Days each year,” said Zollener
