Important Dates for seniors

At this point in the school year, seniors are checking off each day as they get closer to graduation. Even though there is still work to be done, there’s also plenty of important dates that the class of 2016 should be aware of.
Dates in April: Tue, Apr 12 and Wed, Apr 13, seniors will have to attend a mandatory senior parent meeting. The meeting starts at 7:00p.m. in the Auditorium, students whose last name end with A-L will have their meeting on the 12th and students whose last name ends in L-Z will have the meeting on the 13th. During the meeting they will go over a few important dates that seniors need to be aware of as they come to the end of the school year.
“During the meeting, we will quickly go over important dates and events that all seniors should be aware of,” Department Coordinator Michelle Kleve said, “We go over information for the graduation ceremony, students will sign a contract at the end of the year agreeing to end the year positively in terms of academics and behavior. We will also go over information for prom, senior celebration and at the end of the meeting students will receive their tickets for graduation.
Prom and after Prom will be hosted Sat, April 30.
Dates in May:
Fri, May 6, there will be a Senior Celebration Field Day hosted at Smoky. Tue, May 10, Academic Achievement Recognition Night will be hosted at 6:30p.m. and All school Awards will begin at 7:00p.m. in the Auditorium.
May 10-13, seniors will be taking final exams. Fri, May 13, is the Senior Exit Assembly. Mon, May 16, Seniors will check out. Seniors must settle all fines and outstanding debts in the Bookkeeping Office in order to check-out and participate in Commencement. Tue, May 17, there will be an IB Recognition Program hosted at 8:30am in the Auditorium. Tue, May 24, seniors will have a mandatory graduation rehearsal in the West Gym at 1:00p.m. Cap and Gown distribution follows rehearsal .
Thur, May 26, Smoky Hill’s graduation ceremony will be hosted at 8:00a.m. at the Ritchie Center on the University of Denver’s Campus. There’s a lot of different events that seniors should be aware of, and it’s important that they stay focused during the process.
“As seniors come to the end of the school year, it’s important that they do there best to stay focused”, Department Coordinator Michelle Kleve said. Use your peers for support and finish the school year strong.
