Students sign up for IB/MYP

Smoky Hill High School’s International Baccalaureate – Middle Years Program (IB-MYP) is currently accepting requests to participate in the MYP program for the 2016-17 school year.
“Students will need to write out an essay, answer some questions, and submit their current grades and GPA,” IB assistant, Veena Kumar said.
According to ibo.org, IB was found
ed in 1968, and is a non-profit educational foundation that offers four programmes of international education that develops the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world.
All schools must be authorized, by the IB organization, to offer any of the programmes. More information regarding IB can be found via the link below.
According to ibo.org, MYP is a five-year programme, which can be implemented in a partnership between schools, or in several abbreviated (two, three or four year) formats. Students who complete the MYP program are well prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme (DP).

Applications were due on February 4, but according to Mrs. Kumar, applications are still being accepted.
