The body of a mid-20s male was found hanging from the bridge near Arrowhead Elementary earlier this morning, May 18, by people passing by. According to police, it appeared not to be a murder, but they have also not yet called it a suicide. After a brief debate on whether or not to close the school, or at least delay it for a period, they school system decided not to do either, and instead are having their students dropped off in an area of the school where the scene should not be visible. Plus the schools on site child care, which starts at 6:30 am, was moved to the west side of the building while the investigation took place.
People disagree with this decision to keep the school open.
William Bailey, a student here, talked about how “inappropriate it is to keep the school open, because what if a kid sees that? It could scar them for life.”
Bailey thinks that they should have at least delayed.
“If they would have at least delayed the school, they could be completely sure that nothing that could worry the children is there, because everyone makes a mistake every now and then, so the police wouldn’t have to rush to try and clear up the scene before students came by.”
