The week of May 19 will be a four day weekend for Smoky students. On Friday May 23, 2014 and Monday May 26, 2014, there will be no school for SHHS students. Graduation will be held on Friday and Monday is Memorial day. Graduation will take place at 4 p.m. at the DU Campus.

“I really hope the whole high school experience has surpassed their expectations and they will go on to live life to the fullest and accomplish a great deal of good,” freshman Mona Layla Alkayali said.

The week following graduation will also be a four day week because on Monday, May 26 will be Memorial day. Memorial day is the day on which those who died in active military service are remembered. Both students and staff will not be at school both days.

“Although I do not know anyone personally that has served in the army or military,” Alkayali said, “I know for sure that they had a profound impact on this world and died courageous heroes.”
