Girls Varsity Softball Team Makes it to State

FullSizeRenderSaturday Sep. 17, the girls varsity softball team made it to state winning 5-3 against Mountain Range High School.

“It was hard, but we fought and didn’t just give it to the other team,” varsity softball player Kayla Banks said.

Varsity softball has been working out since June and have been preparing to take the team to state.

With a previous record of 12-7, varsity softball “went with the flow, worked hard and pushed ourselves,” Banks said.

According to MaxPreps.com, varsity had an amazing batting PA score of 46, and a total pitches of 145. They achieved a FP 40 for fielding and 1.40 for pitching.

Senior, Maddie Siemer, was selected as the Smoky Hill softball player of the game, stated Maxpreps.com. Siemer went 2/5 and pitched a complete 10 inning game leading the Buffs to the win and a birth in next week’s state tournament.

The next game for varsity is on September 23 against Chaparral at 10am. Smoky Hill Varsity softball has a record of 14-8 and a 63.6% win average, according to MaxPreps.com, and Chaparral has a record of 18-3 and a 85.7% win average.
