Flip phones are starting to make a comeback in America. According to Cnn.com in January, 50 percent of Americans have a smart device of some sort. 83 percent of teenagers own a smartphone of some sort as well. The other 17 percent own more of the basic phones or flip phones. But there has been a recent surge in the amount of flip phones being used. Even celebrities showing up to the scene with using them instead of  smart phones.

Some people think that it is better for their lifestyle compared to a smartphone. Also that it keeps them less distracted than a smartphone would because they can only do a limited amount of things on their phones.Others are saying that they wouldn’t  have to worry about certain things they put in their phones being hacked like smartphone users do, like Icloud. There is also a less or a risk of people getting into any personal account information that is on your phone.

Even some carriers are putting more flip phones back into their stores for people to buy. Samsung is a phone company that is said to be releasing a new line of flip phones for customers to buy. The company has not said if the phone will even be available in the USA, but may only be available overseas.

According to latimes.com the phone is going to be called the W789 and it will have two screens. The one on the outside of the phone and the main screen on the inside of the phone. With flip phones slowly coming back, more and more people are beginning to get rid of their smartphones and return to the basic flip phones. Which gives people a little bit more privacy with most the old phones only being able to text can call. There is also less concern about being hacked or someones account information getting stolen through their phone.
