Colorado Math League Competition
A Math League competition took place last Thursday.
The Colorado Math League competition was this Thursday at 2:45 p.m. Math teacher, Dennis Gournic said there are six Math League competitions a year.
Smoky Hill has been participating in these competitions for more than 20 years. Not every school has to participate, but Smoky Hill chooses to do so.
Gournic says that Aurora does pretty well in these competitions. “We’ve had years where we score higher in the Aurora are then other years,” Gournic said.
The Math League Competition is not like a normal competition with one winner. The top five highest scores from each school gets to go to state and from that point, they choose one individual winner.
Savannah Spears was one of the 13 students taking the test.“Some questions were easy and some were really hard,” she said. Students only get 30 minutes to complete the test.
See Gournic for more details on how to compete.
