Black Ops Three: Why I’m Excited
With the upcoming release, I have found more reasons to be excited for the game
November 4, 2015
We all know the drill. Every November, a new Call of Duty game is released, sales spike, and soon after, the general hype dies down. Black Ops Three, however, seems to have forged a new trail, and that is not necessarily a good thing.
Already, people are discrediting the unreleased game, claiming it to be Advanced Warfare meets Black Ops Two. But, I disagree. Exosuits and body modifications/limb replacement are two completely different things, and the new Call of Duty is promising us a brand new, completely next-gen game.
Firstly, which is 100 percent new to the typical Call of Duty campaign, is the ability to customize your character, down to the gender. For the first time ever in war games, it will be possible to have a female protagonist, which the game will respond to with dialogue. In campaign co-op (which is finally back!), one could theoretically have a four person squad, completely comprised of females. This excites me as the video game industry is adjusting to the new rules of combat, in which females are allowed on the front lines. This makes the gaming experiences more immersive and relatable.
The game is also involving multiple ways to complete each individual level, providing hours upon hours of gameplay. I, personally, love exploring the environment in games, which is why games such as The Last of Us appeal to me. The fact that Black Ops Three is making each level “explorable” gets me incredibly excited.
My final, big excitement, about the single player (or co-op) mode is the story line. It looks completely separate from the first two games in the series, while still related, is amazing. The game features a dark universe in which humans are the weapons. Brain to brain connections (telepathy) replace radios, mechanical limbs create super soldiers, and weaponized limbs; forming a new way to fight and play. I love technology and seeing what science can do for people. Seeing it in action is exciting.
The zombies mode is exciting as well. Zombies is reported to have been redefined, introducing a new narrative and story, replacing Richtofen and Dempsey. I’m ready for a new zombies, as Advanced Warfare was unavailable to me. I’m more than ready for late nights saving the world from the undead nightmare Call of Duty creates.
I never truly enjoyed multiplayer in the Call of Duty world, I prefer to leave that to Battlefield. However, with the improved version of character customization that Ghosts attempted, and new class features (including Gunsmith), I’m excited to give it a try. Also, climbing walls looks like a heck of a lot of fun, which is the best thing since Advanced Warfare’s double jump.
The game looks amazing, with the best way to play being on a next-gen console (PS4 has the best graphics it seems). I know I’m excited for the game and can’t wait to see Treyarch’s version of next-gen.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Three comes out November 6 at any major retail and gaming stores.
