Black Ops is Back

An opinion on the trailers revealed for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

Black Ops 3It’s Call of Duty, it’s next-gen, it’s redefined, it is Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Welcome back, gamers, to the Black Ops world.

Black Ops 3 reveal trailers came out recently, and at first, I was not impressed. It seemed too much like Black Ops 2 combined with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, in both graphics and technology. However, the more I examined the different trailers and reveals, the more I realized, this is a game I want to play.

The world the player is in is a dark world in which the lines are blurred between humanity and technology (primarily, robotics). The single player campaign is reported to be innovative. Not only does it support four-player co-op, but in it, the player can customize their character to be either male or female (which is the first time Call of Duty will have a playable female character), and the Call of Duty website reports that the levels will have a sense of replay-ability by making the missions large with different ways to complete each mission. If this is true, then this game will be truly next generation and well worth the 70 dollars it will cost.

The most interesting thing about the single player campaign are the characters. Science has gone as far as to modify humans to be super soldiers, with the trailer showing fast speeds, strong hits, and even an arm turning into a machine gun. Humans have reached the point where they seem to be more machine than flesh.

Zombies is redefined, with a brand new narrative system that is separate from previous Zombies modes with a new experience system. The multiplayer will have a new class system, a new movement system, and a new “Gunsmith” feature, although the purpose is currently unknown.

If all of this is true, it should be its own separate game, not a part of the Black Ops franchise. However, this is my only issue with the trailers so far.

The game looks amazing so far and, judging by its trailers, the game should redefine the Call of Duty franchise. It also will have to redefine the franchise if it hopes to outmatch Advanced Warfare, a separate amazing game. I give the trailer and information four out of five stars.
