Attention Seniors! Info About Mandatory Parent Senior Meetings
April 14, 2015
Tonight, April 14, marks the first of two Parent Senior Meetings. These meetings are mandatory and will be held at every school in the Cherry Creek school district. “[This is] the start of a lot of different events for the seniors,” Scott Cohen said. This meeting, as said previously, will be mandatory and held at every school in the entire Cherry Creek school district.
Tonight, students with last names that begin with A through L will have to attend and tomorrow, April 15, students with last names beginning with M through Z must attend. These meetings starts at 7 p.m. and last lasts until 7:30 p.m.
This meeting will present a few speakers including, Scott Cohen, Michelle Kleeve, Jennifer Melton and Heidi Zahalka, and Randy Karr. Each will have the mic to discuss the various conditions, and preparations for graduating and moving on to college.
Ms. Cleeve will be among these speakers to represent the counseling department. During her time, she will discuss the process of checking out on Senior Checkout Day. Along with this, Ms. Kleeve will explain what needs to be on a college transcript and how to send it to colleges.
Jennifer Melton and Heidi Zahalka will encourage parents to participate as chaperones for prom, after prom, and Senior Celebration Day. They will also be asking for donations for these events.
Karr will also inform parents and seniors of the parent/student contract. This Contract, once signed, means that if a student misbehaves or gets suspended, they will be unable to participate in the ceremony. “Participating in the ceremony itself is a privilege not a right,” Cohen said.
Once everything the parents and seniors need to know about the upcoming events are provided, parents and seniors will move on to the west gym to pick up their graduation tickets for friends and family.
