AP Testing Schedual
Students are getting ready for AP testing
May 3, 2016
Advanced Placement (AP) testing started on Mon., May 2 at 7:30 a.m., and will continue throughout the week of May 9, officially ending May 13.
May 2016 AP tests are being taken by students who attended an AP class during the 2015-16 school year.
According to studypoint.com “the AP curriculum, administered by The College Board, consists of standardized high school courses that are roughly equivalent to undergraduate college courses. After completing an AP class, students typically take the AP exam in that subject, which can earn them credits and accelerated placement in college.”
“I am taking AP because its provides me with an extra boost with colleges, as well as being in IB,” sophomore Anastasia Oldham said. “I am also in it to earning college course credits or getting scholarships.”
AP tests are scored on a scale of one to five. One being the lowest and five being the highest. Students earning a 3 or higher can earn college course credits, advanced placement, or both upon arriving in college.
“I am hoping to get to get a three or above, probably just like every student taking AP, as getting a three is a passing grade, ”Oldham said.
AP courses and exam scores help students qualify for scholarships. According to The College Board, 31 percent of colleges and universities look at AP experience when making scholarship decisions.
