Raising awareness for human rights
Amnesty International Club is modeled after the Amnesty International Program which was founded by the United Nations.
The main objective of the club is to support human rights. “We all have thirty human rights under the Declaration Of Human Rights,” three-year club participant Haley Jacelon said. Club members go into areas around Colorado where human rights are being violated and fight for the knowledge of human rights.
Feb. 20, the club will be holding a hunger banquet for World Awareness Day. The purpose of the banquet is to acknowledge people around the world affected by world hunger.
Amnesty International Club, sponsored by art teacher Gayle Brown, is held on Thursdays in room II-809 from 2:40pm to 4:00pm.
