4 things to do this weekend
January 8, 2015
We’re a week into the new year – here are some things going on this weekend.
Denver Botanic Gardens – Escape the winter blues and enter a floral wonderland at the Orangery and Marnie’s Pavilion as they present their annual Orchid Showcase. Hundreds of orchid blooms grow among their fragrant citrus collections. Starting Jan. 9 until Feb. 2
Drawn to Action – Posters from the AIGA Design Archives are at the Denver Art Museum. These designers tackle subjects such as the environment, literacy, peace, and equality. With a touch of humor or with straightforward solemnity, the 35 posters in this exhibition demonstrate the inventive techniques artists use to provoke action. This exhibit is open until Jan. 18.
Free admission to the Denver Zoo – Take a trip to the Denver Zoo on Jan. 11 on their free admission day. The Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m
Take trip to the movies – Selma is the story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s historic struggle to secure voting rights for all people – a dangerous and terrifying campaign that culminated with the epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and led to president Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
