2016 Presidential Race

My opinions on the 2016 presidential race

Next year, Americans will have to deal with one of the most important, but also mind numbing and annoying things in this country; the 2016 presidential race. It is not the race itself that is annoying it is the endless stream of ads for the candidates, and this seems like it is going to be a very annoying presidential race.

All of these ads are going to be everywhere: on TV, on billboards, cars, and even t-shirts. Also, there is an uneven playing field with six Republicans running against two Democrats.

On the Republican side, the candidates are: US senators Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio. Also running on the republican ticket are: retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, and former business executive Carly Fiorina. Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is also running.

On the Democratic side, the candidates are: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and senator Bernie Sanders. Is that not just a little disheartening for anyone that is a Democrat? I mean both of the candidates are highly qualified for the job, but it just seems like there should be more than just two.

Even though this election is unbalanced, there is an upside to it. In my years on this Earth, I have seen four presidential elections, and not until 2008 did I see not only an black man, but also a women, and a Latino run for president. In 2016 there will be two women, a African American male (Ben Carson), and a Cuban American (Marco Rubio).

It is great to see this kind of diversity in an presidential election. To think that in 2016, the county could have its first women or Latino president. Next year, history will be written, and a new chapter in the American novel will start.
