images24OUH83AWorld Awareness is exactly what it sounds like. Being aware of what is happening everyday in the world. From Africa to Alaska, it is a very good thing to be aware of what’s going on around you. “World Awareness is to inform us about the world and to inspire us to make a difference for good.” Sophomore Brandi Edmonds said.

Smoky Hill will be holding many different assemblies on March 26 and 27th, all day. Many students and staff love coming to World Awareness assemblies, “To learn about the world and hear inspirational stories is the most exciting part,” Edmonds said.

Thursday the 26th will have 28 assemblies. Starting off with the Baja 1000, auto racing, and ending with Steve Cohen’s presentation on Vietnam. On Friday the 27th there will be 57 assemblies. Starting with Jovan May’s slam poetry, and ending with a presentation on Palestine.

World Awareness has a wide variety of good and bad events and issues around the world. Leaving the viewers feeling very good or even empty inside.“I’ve seen assemblies on drunk driving, texting and driving, girls in Africa and drugs,” Edmonds said.

All the presentations and assembles leave people moved and/or thinking. You will start about what can change these things going on in the world. They will leave you moved and inspired to make a change in the world. “Drugs is the most important issues in the world in my opinion  because it informs us on how they can affect our lives majorly.” Edmonds said.
