Mrs. Celine Perea is the new Instructional Technology teacher this year. Perea is looking for students to become Tech Aides, and help out with technical problems around the school. This pass or fail class is available for all students, but will not show up as an actual grade in Powerschool.

Students who want to apply for the job don’t have to meet any special requirements, but do need to have a small amount of background in technology. Some stuff will be taught along the way.

“Interest is number one,” Perea said.[Their] willingness to help people, and willingness to help out the school follow. Some technical expertise will be appreciated but not required.”

Students get to help out and learn a variety of skills on the job. “They help with the inventory of the computers, getting them ready, and troubleshooting. They also help teachers and students with technical issues,” Perea said.

Students who want to apply can log on to Schoology and click on the Tech Aid Application link, sent out by Mrs. Perea earlier this week. The application will then ask students their name, grade, qualifications, email, and period availability.

“Probably one or two will be [picked] within the next week or so, because we want to see how it goes before we bring on more students,” Perea said.
