The annual homecoming parade is coming up. Which so  happens to be  this week, on Thurs. Oct.1. Students  are preparing themselves  to create a float by getting  decorations and  buying a lot of candy to give to students from Independence Elementary School.

This Tradition has been going on for about 25 yrs. “ It promotes the school spirit on homecoming week, and allow all clubs to walk in unity, by giving candy away to the community. We also involve, kids from Independence School to be involved,”Mrs. Donna said.

It’s nice to know that we all come together as a whole to make plenty of smiles glow our community.

“It feels exciting  and cool to be in the parade, because I remember watching it when I was little,” senior Addy Himle said. Many students  think giving candy  in the parade is a waste of time. Since it’s been going on for years, it’s an honor to  see that former elementary school students still enjoy the parade.

Each club puts on their thinking caps to brainstorm an artistic way to decorate their  floats. And by making them unique from the rest on them.

Drama Club’s float is very unique because it’s their fall theme, Alice and Wonderland. It was built by using flat boards from the Tech Shop. “ It’s different from the rest because it’s painted really cool,” Addy Himle said

“The best part of the Parade is when you see their smile in their faces and how happy they get,” junior Ryane McKanney said. Her experience was tiring, but fun, because she had the chance to show her school spirit and enjoyed making the little ones happy.
