This school year the attendance policy has changed, for the last few years its been five free tardies per semester and then you would get detention after those five times. Mrs. Rasmussen is the attendance dean for ninth and tenth graders, “ What I do is I run a list and I see all the kids that have an unexcused absence,” Rasmussen said.

What’s different from last year is that I see all the ninth and tenth graders for any unexcused absence, “The other deans are working with 11 and 12 graders and those deans also do discipline. So if students violate school policies then they’ll see those kids too, all ninth through twelfth graders.” Rasmussen said

The reason behind the change is that too many kids were missing classes and not receiving any consequences. Rasmussen agrees that the first step to a successful school year is attendance
