Senior Celebration Day

Senior Celebration day is this week

Devin, Guttman

Senior Celebration day is this week, May 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. outside on the field, or, if it rains in the gym. Smoky Hill has been doing Senior Celebration day for nearly 25 years and we do it in replacement for ditch day. Scott Cohen, our activities director at Smoky Hill has been in charge of designing Senior Celebration day.

“Our agreement has always been that if there’s not an official ditch day we’ll always have a Senior Celebration day for seniors,” Cohen said.

All seniors may attend celebration day as long as they have their waiver form signed and they pay their $5 fee. Paying this fee allows students to play games and eat food provided at the celebration.

This celebration is just like the classic elementary field day. It includes games such as wheel barrel races, three legged races and shoe kicks. There are ribbons for any competitions that you win. There will be food and a DJ and senior superlatives.

Students may come and go if they have and AP or IB test. They will get a wristband when they get to the celebration. Students will be excused for the day but if they still want to go to their classes to finish up assignments they can leave and come back.

Students who may be failing classes can still go to Senior Celebration day as long as they have made sure it is okay with their teachers and parents.senior celebration
