Recommendation Letters

Batina Jombuni, Staffer

Recommendation letters deadlines are here. Make sure to go to Smoky’s website to see all the information that is needed.

If your are not aware of what to do, meet up with Mrs. Connally in the Post-Grad center.

“I will be more than glad to help students with the process of  recommendation letters, I let them know how many they need or if they need any at all,” Connally said.

Each school has their own deadline – make sure you don’t miss yours.

To be on time, meet up with Mrs. Connally to discuss what teachers you would like to write you a letter of recommendation, “In order for them to sign the form for either a letter of recommendation,” Connally said.

  1. Go to Naviance, the first link you’ll see is the  ‘Interview form’
  2. You open it on Google Docs
  3. You share that information with the teacher that you have chosen.
  4. They write your letter and upload it to Naviance

[This] will allow me to send the transcript and letter,” Connally said.

Make sure you are responsible by going  to  your teachers on time and give them at least one month to write your letter.

Teacher’s requirements count, some may be very detailed.

“I see the type of person the student is, I also see if they have some sort of list of extracurricular activities, classes like honor classes IB or Ap classes. What schools they are applying for and what major they are interested in, if they are interested in athletics and I know that he is an Athlete student in order for me to tailor the letter,” Social Studies teacher, Mr. Vaughn said.

Some teachers may not be as detailed.

“I check their background and see where they come from like what type of student they are. The only way that they can get denied, is if they don’t have a reasonable deadline,” Science teacher Mr. Bowdre said.
Be sure to get your letters of recommendation done on time.
