Another school shooting strikes again.

So far this year there have been 18 school shooting in 2018. Yet, another school  has witness a horrible event, adding to the list. This shooting came one day after, another school shooting in Texas. Tuesday morning Marshall County High school had, a 15 year old boy named Gabe Parker, part of an online newspaper editor. Was charged with two counts of murder and 12 counts of first degree assault. He was armed with a handgun, and walked into the school at 8:57AM. Where he started unleashing a hail of bullets in the school’s common area before class. Killing two people in the process, Bailey Holt and Preston Cope both 15 years old. Preston Cope died at Vanderbilt University Medical center in Nashville. Preston was shot in the head and hand. The first 911 call didn’t happen till two minutes later. During this time teachers helped students leave the area and go to a safer location. There was some students who came to school late and arrived when everyone was running. Students dropped their bags and ran pushing each other. Some without their phones. Everyone in cars started turning around and driving away. Others were jumping the fence around the school and running through the woods. Elementary and middle school reopened Thursday, leaving the parents to decide if they wanted to go to school with their kids. However, Marshall County high school remained closed. This tragedy stirred painful memories of the 1997 school shooting that killed three students in West Paducah. Just 32 miles from the high school in Benton. Not only that but, several other states are considering proposals that would allow teachers to have access to gun in schools, including Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and South Carolina. This shooting is something the students will never forget for the rest of their lives.
