Starbuck’s holiday red cups have been making headlines this year. Instead of doing the unveiling of their famous red cups designs like the company has been doing since 1997, the company left the red cups blank. Outraging Starbucks fans and some Christians.

The Starbucks controversy started when a Starbucks fan by the name of Joshua Feuerstein, took to social media to rant about Starbuck’s decision to use plain red cups. The video was soon viewed by fans of Starbucks and other people. This caused the outrage about the cups to spread all over the country. Even Donald Trump had a few things to say about the issue in a rally Monday. According to usatoday.com Trump stated that we should boycott Starbucks for this incident. But later stated that he didn’t really care that much. This video has over 12 million views.

Starbucks wanted the designs to be taken off the cups because they wanted a place where everyone of different religions could be included and not one religion be prominent. According to money.cnn.com Starbucks wanted the cups to be blank so that customers could tell their holiday stories the way that they see fit.

“It’s their company they get to choose what they want to do,” Junior Emilee Habernai said. “I don’t really care whether or not Starbucks wants to do prints for Christmas, but it does include everybody which gives the store a more welcoming atmosphere.”

While some Christians are outraged by Starbucks decision, people of other religions have welcome the new change. According to abcnews.go.com Tuesday marked the official launch of the holidays for Starbucks in the United States.
