Repairs are underway on the outside of Smoky Hill High School along Laredo St. at the northwest end of the building as of Sunday, October 30, due to a car hitting the school just feet away from the entrance near the Attendance Office.

Eman John Isaacks, age 41, has been charged, pending investigation, with DUI, leaving the scene after striking
property, and driving with excessive alcohol content after he crashed into the side of the school at 5:44 p.m Sunday.

Isaacks crashed into a concrete support beam, so there was only minor structural damage.Had he crashed any more to the left, he would have gone clear through the window into Office 1-220 that teachers Terry Evans, Kristen Gurzick, and Carrie Faust share.

At the sight of the accident, Isaacks consented to a roadside breathalyzer test and was found to be in excess of the .08 legal blood alcohol content limit, which is believed to have impaired him, pending investigation, causing the accident.

Isaacks bonded out of Arapahoe County the night of his arrest and the case is now with the Aurora Police Department.
