First Big Snow

Let it snow with the first big snowfall of the season

Yesterday Colorado got her first big snow of 2018. Centennial and Aurora got nine inches of snow, not enough to get a snow day, but enough to get a delayed start.

This snow did good for the mountains and Colorado in general.

The mountains got an average of 22 inches of snow, meaning skiers and snowboarders finally got some good powder to go out and shred it. Ski lodges were posting all over social media, attracting people to come for the snowfall and beautiful scenery.

This snow helped out Colorado because every since October, we have been extremely dry with the high temperatures and low precipitation. The snow itself is actually very wet, so we have finally got that moisture we need. Since Colorado also got a lot of snow in the mountains, that means there will be good snow runoff during the summer.

Our state has not entered the snowiest months yet (March-April), so we can hopefully see bigger snowfalls than this one.
