The Smoky Hill High School boys varsity basketball team played at home against the Overland Trailblazers in the West Gym at Smoky Hill HS on Wednesday, Jan. 13. A huge crowd gathered to cheer on the Buffalos. The gym was packed and school spirit was on display.

Overland entered the game with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses and Smoky Hill’s record at 2 wins and 9 losses. Smoky Hill got off to a slow start only scoring 7 points in the first quarter and 4 points in the second quarter, and was behind Overland 30 to 11 at the end of the first half.

During halftime students were treated to an exciting performance by the Smoky Hill Dream Team. The Dream Team is a team of girls and boys who stomp on the floor and clap their hands in unison, to create music. It has been 3 years since the Dream Team performed last and they really got the crowd going.

The Buffaloes came back in the second half scoring 14 points in the third quarter and 19 points in the fourth quarter. However, 33 points in the second half was not enough to win the game and the Buffalos were defeated by the Trailblazers 63-44 making their overall record now 2 wins and 10 losses.

The Buffalo’s next game will be against the Grandview Wolves on Friday, Jan. 15 at 7PM at Grandview High School. Grandview has a record of 7 wins and 4 losses and is tied for second place in the Centennial League. Be sure to come out to Grandview and cheer on the Buffaloes!
