Smoky Hill’s Winter Wish Week is next week.

Spirit week will be filled with activities starting Monday, Jan. 23, through Saturday Jan. 28.  Proceeds from all of the events during the week will go to the Make-A-Wish foundation. This year’s goal is to make $40,000 to help grant eleven-year-old Eric his wish of attending a Broncos game.

The week starts off with Broncos day vs. any other NFL team. Students can dress up in their favorite Broncos wear, or in their favorite sports team wear. Later on in the day there will be a Chipotle Spirit Night at the Chipotle’s restaurant located on Quincy and Buckley from 4 to 8 p.m.

50 percent of the proceeds made from the night will go to Make-A Wish. There will also be a trivia bowl at 7 p.m. located in the cafeteria. Students must pay $2 per person and can form teams of one to six people. All students looking to attend this event can sign up at the door before the trivia bowl begins.

Tuesday is Snow or Surf Day and students can dress up as their favorite season. The day’s activities include a Miracle Minute during 2R classes and a dodgeball tournament at 7 p.m. There is a $5 fee for each player and a $5 fee for any student who wants to watch. Co-ed teams can also sign up to participate in Activities.

“I plan on dressing up in summer clothes, as long as weather is nice,” senior Arlene Nicanor said.

Wednesday is Dress day: tacky vs. classy. Students can dress up or dress down depending on their preferences. DECA Marketplace will be taking place later on in the school day at 1:30 p.m. in the East Gym.

Thursday is the Battle of the Band and students can dress as their favorite singer and or band. Jimmy John’s will be the restaurant of the night from 4 to 8 p.m. and is located on Quincy and Buckley. The Mr. and Ms. Smoky Hill Competition will be held in the auditorium at 7 p.m.

Any seniors who are participating in the competition will be asked to be compete in a lip sync battle. They will also be asked questions and get judged on their use of spirit wear. Students must pay $5 to participate, and students must pay $3 to attend.

Friday is Color Wars and students get to dress in their class colors. Freshman in white, sophomores in green, juniors red, and seniors black. Students can then represent their class and have fun while doing so at the Pep Assembly in the West Gym from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. Afterwards students can join their clubs and sports they participate in, and then go to the hallways for the Lip-Dub filming at 2:30 p.m.

“I plan on going to the Pep Assembly on Friday and doing the Lip Dub,” Nicanor said.

Saturday will keep the party going with the Snowcoming Dance from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $10 if the student has an activities fee on their school ID, and $15 without the activities fee. Ticket will be sold during both lunches next week and at the door of the dance.
