Varsity Football Loses to Rock Canyon

Bryonna Vanden Hout, Staffer

Friday September 4,  Smoky Hill lost 54-20.

Coach Trahan has been coaching since 2007 or eight years. Trahan played football all through high school at Thomas Jefferson, he played for CSU Pueblo and imagine the surprise when he had said he played for the Kansas City Chiefs for one year. Trahan has played here in Colorado and (of course) Kansas.

“I like working with the kids and watching them grow and succeed” Trahan said. Trahan began coaching track & field, likes to work with all kids and again, likes watching them succeed. Trahan was offered jobs as a football coach based on his past with his football career.  Trahan was confident in the game against Rock Canyon. Trahan thought that the team would win because they learned from their mistakes.

The game started off rough with the Jaguars (Rock Canyon) scoring the first touchdown. The Buffs came up to tie the score. The game started getting really rough for our team. The team started falling behind. Got to give our team credit for how much they did better this game than they did last game. I think we can all agree that they learned from their mistakes, but that wasn’t enough. We brought our all and did our best. Lets bring all we got and go harder this Saturday against Arvada West at the North Area Athletic complex in Arvada. It is amazing to think that we all go to Smoky Hill High School and have all these sports we are known for. Let’s show some school spirit and help amp up our team this Saturday against Arvada West. Let’s go Buffs!
