Monday, May 16, all of Smoky Baseball, Varsity, Junior Varsity, C-Team, and Freshman team attended a field trip to Coors Field for a scrimmage game against Austin Valley.

“[Smoky Baseball] was able to do that because as one of our fundraisers we sell Rookies tickets and if you sell so many tickets the Rockies allow you to use their field for a game,” varsity baseball coach Bob Kennedy said.

The players who sold a specific number of Rockies tickets were able to attend the scrimmage. This fundraiser was created to help Smoky improve the clubhouse, fields, and any other needed expenses.

Even though that morning the weather wasn’t great, Smoky Baseball still made the best of it, taking in the moment of playing at Coors Field.

“It was great. It was wet, it was rainy, the conditions weren’t amazing, but for the kids to be in the clubhouse, for the players to be able to dress in the clubhouse, play on the [Smoky] field and practice, for a lot of these kids it’s a dream come true,” Kennedy said.
