The rivalry began in 1893 and is typically played at Sports Authority Field which is considered a neutral ground for both teams. The winner of the Rocky Mountain Showdown wins the Centennial Cup. In 2009 both universities agreed to extend the showdown until 2020.

Senior Julisa Mireles who likes to show pride in local Colorado sports teams said that it is important that people participate in events.

¨It is important that students go to show pride in Colorado and Colorado’s education. It is important for seniors to route for their soon to be college.” Julisa said.

“It is a great way for students to get involved early in college life and experiences.”
