According to nfl.com, Peyton was joined on stage by Broncos President Joe Ellis, General Manager John Elway, and Coach Gary Kubiak. All of the men on stage spoke highly of the quarterback that led the Broncos to a championship in the 50th Super Bowl this year.

During the speech, the former player thanked all of his head coaches and many of his former teammates. He also addressed two controversies: one that he used performance enhancing drugs, and the other that he acted inappropriately with female trainer during his time as a college player. Many fans watched the five-time MVP give his speech from outside the Broncos’ headquarters building. Some of the quarterback’s former teammates were also there.

“I like how he ended the speech with one last ‘Omaha’,” junior Annisa Gholson said. “It created a nice ending to his career.”

According to cnn.com, Peyton was the only quarterback to win a Superbowl with two different football teams: the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts. He was one of only two football players to beat every team in the NFL. Peyton also broke records for the most career touchdown passes (539), most passing yards (71,940), most touchdowns in a season (55), and most wins (200), just to name a few.

The former Bronco made plans to start his retirement with a vacation and a trip to Disneyland.  He also plans to do some golfing before moving on to the next phase in his life.

Along with Peyton Manning retiring, several other Bronco players have decided to leave the team. According to espn.go.com, defensive end Malik Jackson signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, linebacker Danny Trevathan signed with the Chicago Bears, and quarterback Brock Osweiler signed with Houston Texans. In the biggest surprise of the post-season, Osweiler surprised the Broncos’ management by signing a four year, 72 million dollar deal with the Texans.

“It seems like everybody is either injured or leaving the team,” Gholson said. “I’m kind of worried that we won’t have a good team next season, especially with Osweiler signing with the Houston Texans.”

With the Broncos still in need of quality players, especially at the quarterback position, they signed quarterback Mark Sanchez, formerly with the Philadelphia Eagles. This would not be his first time dealing with the Broncos. Then General Manager Brian Xavier, and Offensive Coordinator Mike McCoy met with Sanchez back in the 2009 draft, with hopes of drafting the player onto the team. Things looked promising for a while,  but they decided to back out of the deal. Sanchez will have a chance to compete for the starting position with the Broncos.

The team is not stopping their quarterback search with the signing of Sanchez. The Broncos have made it known that they are still in the hunt for another new quarterback to complete their roster.
