Volleyball does Open Gym

On Mondays and Tuesdays, volleyball does open gym in the East gym from four to six. The open gym continues through the end of the year and into the summer as participants signs up for it. The open gyms are for anybody who wants to join vollyball or for any returning volleyball players. This even includes eighth grades who are hoping to join the Volleyball team next year. The participants must pay and sign up for the open gym and can get their packets in the Activities office.

Open gym includes anything the Volleyball players want to practice for next year or need to practice so they can improve their skills out on the court. The players can practice passing, setting the ball, hitting the ball back and forth over the net, and serving. They can even play a couple games on some days. All the players can practice these skills and anything else they feel the need to work on.

The main purpose of the open nights is to improve the skills and the techniques of the participants and give incoming players a feel of what they will be doing during the actual season of Volleyball. “I think it is a lot of fun and I can usually play a game or two with some friends,” freshman Raquel Martin said

The coaches also attend the open gym to help participants with some of their techniques and skills that they could improve on and help them with the games.
