Halloween and School, got me Scared!

CCSD in session on Halloween for the first time in many years.

Michael Boyd, Staffer

This year we will be having school on Halloween, I know–shocker. I don’t know what the district was thinking when they made this decision. Personally, I do not believe that school should be not held on Halloween.

I have asked around and everyone has been saying that school on Halloween is a dumb idea.  I do not believe that peoplescreenshot_2016-10-14-20-19-36-1 should dress up throughout the school day, because not all of the costumes are school appropriate. Even if they choose to do so they must pay $2 and follow the school dress code.

The costumes will become a distraction in the learning environment. Students will want to focus more on the Spider-Man costume their friend is wearing rather than focusing on what the teacher is saying. Students already have a hard time paying attention on a regular basis, thanks to smartphones and friends in the class.

Schools are not usually open during a holiday, so what’s up with ours? Is Halloween a holiday? Apparently not. According to Aristoiclassical.com,  Halloween isn’t even on the list for a closure holiday this year. So I guess Halloween has become more of a tradition than a holiday in many people’s eyes.

I do not believe school should be closed. Halloween is just a night where kids go and basically ask for things give them cavities and braces. This is all just from my point of view, but everyone has their own opinion. There will be people who would want school to be closed on Halloween.
