Clay Club

Clay Club is an art club that is open to anyone

Clay club meets every Tuesday from 2:30 to 4:00 P.M. in room II-802. While there is no fixed routine, students come in to work on various sculptures or art pieces. Students are able to start or finish their projects, but what they do is up to the students. “I just don’t want it to be another class for me or for them so its more of a free open studio,” Clay Club director and teacher Joshua Teplitzky said.

Clay club has been around for about 10 years. “In the past, what we’ve tried to accomplish was school beautification a couple of permanent art piece,” said Teplitzky. “That stuff was fun; we haven’t done anything like that recently, because we are doing bigger projects in the actual clay class.”

Clay Club is open to anyone at the school, and there is not any requirements for those in the club. Students do not have to have a certain grade to be in the group. “It’s kind of like an open studio where the students that are in the club come in and work,” Teplitzky said. “The students that are not in the club can come in and work. It’s very self driven.”
